Hey guys! I keep forgetting to tell you about my blog friend Cinnamon’s very neat Wednesday photo tip/assignment program. She takes beautiful photos (check out her tulips!) so this is bound to be a very cool thing.

It’s Wednesday, which means WIAW, but I didn’t manage to photograph a full day of eats this past week. Instead, I thought I’d just show you some of the mini meals and yummy things that have been passing through my mouth.

C is for cookie….
We bought some office supplies at work and with our purchase, they sent us a free tin of cookies. They look a little like Famous Amos. I’ve had a few things week…usually around 4pm when my stomach starts growling and I’m exhausted…..yum.
I’ve tried to keep my eats mostly healthy so I have plenty of energy this week. Luckily, this week is much less “crazy bride” and much more “excited happy, but busy” bridal stuff. 11 days! Seriously can’t wait.
So much for an exercise or recipe blog lately….I haven’t been writing about much of either of those things! I haven’t been cooking much. Jared’s been travelling and on a new training “diet” so he hasn’t needed me to cook anything and I’ve been either too stressed or busy to focus on a recipe and have just been winging it with meals. It works for me.
I’ve been really into Mary’s her crackers and Starbucks iced green tea this week. I somehow ate the whole box of crackers in 2 days. Oops.

I had Mary’s crackers with TJs turkey and a sparkling water for part of lunch.

I’ve had plenty of green juices.

Bananas too

And quinoa mixes

Cooked carrots (I’m into them lately) and steamed greens with coconut butter (still one my favorite combos).

And lots of other things that I just didn’t get a chance to take photos of….like salmon, smoothies, pb on rice cakes, etc.
And exercise this week so far has consisted of swimming and dance classes. The best way to de-stress! And plenty of dog walks, of course

And in wedding news, Jared and I took another dance lesson. We officially sent in our final numbers to the venue– we’re only at 107 so we succeeded in inviting the right amount of guests. We chose to have a small wedding (we have large families so this is small in terms of how many friends we could invite), but the guest list was very very tough. We’re working on the final schedules and I’ve started packing for the honeymoon. It’s all feeling so real! Yippee!
There’s so much I want to tell you guys– all about my bachelorette, about some neat wedding stuff, about some exercise stuff, some SF stuff, and more….and it’s all coming eventually, I promise!
Anyone want to do a guest post while I’m away on my honeymoon? I’ll need to have them in by Wednesday 5/21 at 12noon….so it’s short notice, but if anyone is interested, let me know and I’ll try to fit you in!
– What has your exercise of choice been this week?
– What’s one food you’ve eaten a lot of this week? (Me- Mary’s crackers and bananas)

Today’s WIAW and my bridal freak out moment day!

But first, guess who has jumped on the green smoothie bandwagon?!

Clearly Jared hated posing for this photo and refused to look at the camera… But I needed evidence of him drinking something green!
I thought it was impossible– he used to gag every time he saw me drinking one- but Jared has been requesting them all week. He’s on a new health kick and dare I say, he’s actually starting to get addicted to them too!
Ok and now for the bridal freakout recap in combo with my Tuesday eats. I guess it was bound to happen. Yesterday, I had a full bridal stress freak out day. Bundle of stress and emotions all day long. At least I can laugh at my crazy self! And hopefully it’s all out of my system now. Before you judge me too much after reading this post, just know that a good night’s sleep works wonders and I feel much better today.

My breakfast. Delish, as always.
Yesterday morning, still in the, “I didn’t lose weight” silly stress mode, I spent two hours researching juice cleanses and became intensely determined to do the Blue Print Cleanse. I even convinced Jared (which was surprisingly easy!) that we both should do a 3-day cleanse and that it was the best idea ever to spend $400 on it.
Yeah, my new big idea didn’t last long. A few hours later, I was talking to my co-worker who did the cleanse last week She said she was hungry and grouchy the whole time, it made her skin break out, and made her stomach worse, etc……and so I abandoned the cleanse idea….no need for any added grouchiness the week before my wedding!….and my “I’m going on a cleanse” rampage drifted away almost as quickly as it started.

Lunch! I left my homemade lunch on the counter (of course! it was one of “those” days). So instead of eating my tempeh and greens…I hightailed it to Whole Foods for greens, quinoa, and some tofu….plus more coffee
Then, my dad misplaced some of my wedding “supplies”– just some photo frames (we’re putting photos of our grandparents on their wedding days around the cake. ) I got into crazy stress mode and was so upset that he lost them, was convinced everything else I had sent to their house was lost too. Crazy bride. And of course, he found them an hour later.

Snack. Have you tried this flavor? YUMMM
And the worst freakout was after Jared picked up our wedding rings from the jeweler yesterday and brought them home. I burst into a tearful anger when I saw mine because I thought it, “wasn’t what I asked for and didn’t match my engagement band” and who knows what else. I even emailed the jeweler and the guy was so nice he told me to come in right away so he can fix it to whatever I want. Well yeah…I woke up this morning and looked at in the light and liked it more and don’t want to deal with going back to the store so will probably keep it the way it is….but sheesh, I had a stress attack about it and poor Jared felt so bad that I didn’t like my ring. Yikes.
Anyway…like I said, a good night’s sleep helped.
But no worries, there were some really good things that happened yesterday too! My co-workers threw me a shower!
It was so sweet and generous of them. They’ve been so supportive through the whole wedding process, excited for me, let me share my planning stories with them, and made it special. Since the wedding is small, I feel really guilty that I couldn’t invite them but they were still really sweet and we went out to celebrate after work yesterday.

Pink champagne (the best!)
They gave me such a cute gift! It was a basket filled several bottles of champagne, wine and booze and on each bottle was a little poem specifying when to drink the bottle:

My mom joined us. We ordered apps (no pics) of humus and pita and some seafood.
And they brought out a special dessert! Felt very lucky and it was a lot of fun.

Lemon and chocolate…yummm
For the rest of my WIAW eats, I snacked on some bites of salmon and nuts when I got home, but the mish mash of appetizers, champagne, and snacks equaled dinner.
And then we took the dog for a walk and I put my crazy self to bed! You know what this day means? Yoga, swimming, and sleeping are in my future. Stress be-gone!
Happy WIAW!
– Tell me about your bridezilla moment?
– Do you hang out with your co-workers outside work? Do work Happy Hours?
– Have you ever convinced your family, SO, or friends to eat something they would never have tried on their own?

I really enjoyed the blog tributes to Boston. I still can hardly get my head around the fact that this actually happened. At a race. In Boston of all places. It feels like a nightmare that is actually real. I don’t think anything I write will be strong enough, so I’ll just say….Boston, still thinking about you.
And because I refuse to let “them” “win,” I will continue on with my regular WIAW post and a very fun GIVEAWAY!

As always lately, I started the day with a green smoothie. I’ve been adding chocolate Amazing Meal, which is yummy and gives it more staying power. Of course, I forgot to photograph it until it was already gone…..so here’s what was left.

Lunch was a mish mash of lentils (TJs, pre-cooked), steamed kale with coconut oil, and avocado. As always, I packaged it in my glass container. Glass is much better than plastic because it doesn’t breed BPAs, but man it’s heavy! That thing takes up space! Yours too?

What kind of containers do you use??
Because I’m not so crazy about my glass containers, I was more than happy when MiraBrands contacted me to test out their new line of BPA-free steel containers!
They sent me two small ones to try out. So cute, right?

They’re small so I could only fit snacks in there (no meals), but they worked well for a handful of pretzels and some trail mix. If you’re looking to stay within one portion, these might be the thing for you— they’re just the right size to keep you from going overboard.
The containers are:
- Made of unlined 18/8 food-grade stainless steel
- Non-toxic lids made of LDPE number 4 plastic
- Free of BPA, phthalates, PVC and lead
- Reusable
My thoughts on them? Very nice! Much, much lighter than glass, which is a win when you bring lunch to work every day. Easy to clean and the lid fit well (and I liked the cute purple color). Truthfully, I don’t often take anything this small with me…..so I’d probably buy the bigger ones in the future (once we make some space in the cabinet…it’s pretty full right now!).

And because I know you’re probably desperate to own one of your own—
They’re offering a GIVEAWAY for containers of your own!
Just leave a comment in the comment section and I’ll pick a winner on Friday! You can read more about them here.
ok, back to WIAW…..but no more photos. In between work and evening plans, I went to the mall and bought two pairs of shoes for wedding stuff! (shower and rehearsal dinner). Am in love with both pairs! Then, I went to Wine Book Club and we had spaghetti sauce with tomato sauce, salad, crackers and cheese, and wine. Home and to the couch!
Have a great Wednesday everyone!
Enter GIVEAWAY for MiraBrand containers by leaving a comment below.
– What type of containers do you currently use?
– Off the top of your head, what “little” snack would you put in those containers? I’d pick 1) chocolate chips mixed with almonds, 2) pretzels, 3) green peas (random)
– Have you bought new shoes lately? What kind?

Guess what- I am finally transferring my blog over to self-hosted tonight! I’m so computer-illiterate that it has been on my to-do list for the past 6 months or so and I finally bit the bullet and did it. Yay! Hopefully no changes on your end, just on mine! Bear with me
So that’s why I’m posting my WIAW post a bit on the early side today.
Let’s get to it…

Breakfast was a green smoothie. For the past week, I’ve been using my regular combo– frozen spinach, 1/2 banana, and blueberries– but I’ve also been adding in some Amazing Grass or Vega One powder. The protein and fiber adds so much more staying-power and keeps me full for hours. Without it, I’d get hungry again by 9am…so this has been a very positive addition!

And chia seeds. I started eating a tbs soaked in water every morning and I’ve noticed that they actually do make me feel better.

Lunch was also not the most photo-genic (at all!), but it was: tempeh (also a new obsession), avocado, and lightly steamed carrots (with cinnamon and coconut oil). Also kept me full for most of the afternoon.

Snack- Pure bars made a comeback in my life. I’m so-so about them lately. You?

Dinner- TJs rice noodle mac & cheese with frozen peas. Yummy. I rarely crave mac&cheese, but when I was grocery shopping earlier in the day, it was calling my name! Not nearly as good as Kraft, but still always a hit

After dinner- I snacked on some random things….a tsp of pb, sips of Jared’s smoothie, a couple chocolate chips, etc. YUM.
Ok….DOG QUESTION…..
Charlie is so weird. I think he has separation anxiety
He needs Jared and I to be together and hates it if one of us leaves lately. For example, if we’re out somewhere and I run into a store to use the bathroom, he won’t budge from the spot where I left. Even if Jared tries to take him to a grassy field across the street from there while they wait for me, he won’t go or move an inch and just looks longingly toward the door. Another example- if I leave for work and he stays home with Jared, Charlie won’t play with Jared or his toys or go for long walks (just sleeps and watches the door) until 8 hours later when I get home….and then since we’re together, he’s so excited and wants to play non-stop. It’s almost the same when J leaves, but worse when I’m away (i’m his alpha-person). It’s so weird and it’s also pretty annoying. He’s not a nervous dog and he’s generally very well-behaved and balanced, but this prob is starting to get worse and we don’t know what to do! He doesn’t do this when he stays at my parents’ house and he’s rarely ever alone for longer than 3 hours, but we need to work on it and change his behavior a little. My only thought was that he doesn’t have a routine when he’s with us (Thurs-Mon…I leave him at my parents’ house the other days because the workweek is often crazy busy and I don’t want to leave him alone). We always do something different (hike, park, walk at different times, etc) or Jared’s been out of town a lot so maybe he misses/worries about him (?) and so he gets anxiety?
DOES ANYONE ELSE HAVE THIS ISSUE?? Any suggestions on how to fix this? Ugh.
– Does your dog do anything weird?
– I like peas in my mac&cheese…..what veggies or add-ins do you like?
– Do you use a protein powder/supplement in your smoothies? Which one?? Any others I should try?
– Tempeh– love or hate it?

Hey guys! Charlie, here.

Since it’s What I Ate Wednesday, Mommy said I get to do this week’s edition and show you guys what a doggie eats!
Even though I’m only 20 pounds, I eat so much! Some days I eat similar things to Mommy– coconut oil, kale, and peanut butter….and other days, it’s just boring dry food…but here’s my first doggie version of WIAW! Thanks for hosting, Jenn and letting me participate!
These are my eats from Sunday, which Mommy recapped here. BTW, for another guest WIAW Post (Ironman Eats) click here.

by Charlie
Guys, I am NOT a morning person. Usually I just sleep through the mornings, curled up in the warm bed with no appetite.

However, every single morning, Mommy still fills my bowl with dog food. Usually it goes untouched.

This morning though, I must have known we were going for a hike because Jared put a tiny bit of coconut oil in there (it’s good for dogs!) and I ended up eating the entire bowl before we left! With the coconut oil, it tasted pretty good!

We drove about thirty minutes to the really-fun-hiking-place. I played on the beach and ran around the hills, all which work up an appetite, of course.

Luckily, Jared brought me some treats (besides being hungry, I was being very good and deserved them). I got the first one on the beach right before the start of the hike.

“ooooh! what’s in the bag? it smells GOOD!”
They’re Zukes, which I really like.
About a mile later, Mommy and Jared got hungry and shared a banana. They gave me a teeny, tiny bit.

Bananas always make me happy.
I got another treat about 2 miles later (YUM!). Lucky me. My short little legs had walked a lot and the energy boost was yummy.

oh boy!

I also slurped up some water.

At the end of the hike, I was pooped and fell asleep as soon as we got into the car.
We stopped for Jared to get a burrito (mommy ate a yucky healthy thing in the car). Burritos smell so good! I waited patiently while he ate. He snuck me a piece of steak….oh yum!

I got home, took a bath, and fell asleep for two full hours.

When I woke up, Mommy was making dinner…..CHICKEN! My other favorite. It smelled really good and I hung out while she ate (at the coffee table)

And then, Mommy put some in my bowl and I ate it ALL up.

My eating doesn’t end there…..Jared ate dinner right after that (he and Mommy were on different schedules) so I hung out near him for a crumb…..

And then after some playtime with the ball and my stuffed animals….plus a nice evening walk….I brought Mommy and Jared my bone for my evening treat/DESSERT!

If I ask nicely, they add a tiny bit of peanut butter to the end of my bone. I lick the peanut butter off and then spend a good 45 minutes chewing my bone (teeth cleaning).
And then, it was really time for bed. I promptly fall back asleep. The END! To sum up the day….Calories? Who knows. Exercise? Yes, a lot! Greens? Not today, but I usually do eat something green. Protein? Yep! A good day? You bet!
Thanks for reading,
Charlie
***Haha, something different for today. I might do some more posts about dog nutrition– I’ve been reading a lot about the benefits of kale in dogs, etc and want to share with you guys. But really, this was just supposed to be fun and different for WIAW!***
– What does your dog eat??
– Are your dogs communicative? Do they eat on a schedule or is it different every day?

Let’s talk about weekday work lunches. In my world, this is always a tough one. I’m reluctant to spend $10 every single day by eating out (plus, there are very few options near my office) and there’s nothing I hate more than bringing lunch from home and opening up my Tupperware to discover it’s all soggy or gross by noontime. Plus, I’m not such a fan of typical lunch foods– sandwiches and soups aren’t my thing. Salads though? Yes please. I like the salad crunch in the mid-day. But I can’t do a salad everyday….even I get sick of that.
So, for What I Ate Wednesday this week, I thought I’d focus on one of my typical weekday lunches.
As always, thanks for hosting Jenn. It’s been a while since I’ve participated in a WIAW, but it’s always so fun to read all the other entries.

Okay, first things first….since it’s WIAW, I should start at breakfast.
6am….unpictured….I was tired, hungry, and half zombie when I ate it. Breakfast was an extra large banana smothered in crunchy peanut butter. And a cup of coffee. Yes, a big cup of coffee.
Packing lunch…..6:30am
My goals on most days, including today are just to have something green, full of protein, and with as little sugar as possible. Oh and it could only take 5-7 minutes to put together but still taste ok at noon.
I had lot of greens in my fridge, so I steamed them (post breakfast, post shower) with a little coconut oil (my favorite way to steam greens).

And then threw them into a Tupperware with a leftover piece of chicken. The chicken had braggs kelp seasoning on it (love) with a few snacks. It’s true what they say about protein– without it, I would be sleepy and unable to concentrate in the middle of the day. Agree?
I think steamed greens are a great alternative to salad. This is more of a dinner type lunch meal, but they hold off hunger for me better (and I’m pretty sure they have less or equal calories).

My lunch and snacks got packed into a lunch bag. And I ran out the door for my morning commute.
I ate my carrots around 10am, as always. (sometimes earlier!)

and my lunch around 11:30am. Followed by the Zego bar(see above pic of my full lunch) only like 30 minutes later.

I always plan to save the snack/bar for later in the afternoon but that rarely ever works. The bar was by a new bar company and I was asked to try it for feedback. Always fun to try new products in beta form. I love giving feedback, especially for food!
Even though I eat lunch early, it holds me over until 5 or 6. I had to give a presentation for work around 7, so I stopped at Whole Foods on the way and ate from the hot bar. I got a mix of quinoa, chicken, edamame, and some guac. No veggies….I just wasn’t in the mood for some reason.

Dessert when I got home was a chocolate fudge bar (treat!). Eaten while counting dog toys
Look how cute they are!

And with that….my day is done. I’ve been so tired all week. No exercise except some morning sit-ups. blah. There’s always tomorrow!
So…
Tell me about your weekday work lunches….
Do you eat dinner type meals?
Ever carry your lunch in a lululemon bag?
Do you steam your greens in coconut oil?
Do you make your lunch in the morning or the night before?

Hey! I just have to say, I know I complain about my commute a ton, but when the sunrise is like this, it is sooo worth it

We’ve had the nicest sunsets all week.
For WIAW this week, I photographed my eats from Monday. We spent the morning in Tahoe and then drove back home after lunch. For a road trip day, my eats weren’t so bad.
On Monday, I started with a cup of coffee while watching the inauguration.

Then for breakfast, I ate the same thing I had on Sunday morning– a banana and an egg.

I ate an unpictured orange about an hour later.
We stopped in Truckee for lunch. The meal was okay, at best. I got a steak salad. It was greasy and fatty and kinda gross. Jared and Charlie helped me with the steak and we still had a lot of leftovers.

I would not recommend the café one bit. Blah. And my friend ordered coffee and asked for skim milk and the waitress lectured us about how the owner of the restaurant lived to be 96 and always drank whole milk in his coffee and therefore you shouldn’t even be asking us for skim. Um hello, maybe she just likes the taste of it…and regardless, none of your business, I could care less about the owner’s eating habits.
Moving on….
After lunch, we started our road trip back to SF. We stopped in Old Town Sacramento to stretch our legs and walk Charlie. He was happy.

I resisted the urge to stop into one of the 12 ice cream stores we passed and ate an apple when we got back into the car instead.

Jared took one for the team and ordered an ice cream cone.
We finally got home around 5:30 and after unpacking and chilling, I was eager to make dinner. Luckily, I had some food in the fridge and made a quick but really, really yummy dinner of kale, quinoa, and TJ’s refried black beans. I had some lentils to use up so I added a little to the plate too last minute (yes, I know…a lot of beans). Loved this dinner.

Jared of course thought I was crazy when I asked him if he wanted the same thing. He’s so picky! He got a meatball sub from next door instead.
I snacked on a rice cracker with jam after dinner and then crawled into bed a little before 9:30pm. I had a wedding nightmare dream that the DJ didn’t show up and there was no music and everyone was bored and I was crying and….HAHA, I always have dreams like that about events so I guess it was bound to happen. At least I know that when I dream about it, it doesn’t come true so now I won’t worry about the DJ not showing up.
And there ya go– WIAW. I owe you a Leibster award post…and I’m going to a foam rolling workshop Wed night, so I’ll blog about that later too!
But tell me….
– Did you watch the inauguration?
– What kind of milk do you use in your coffee? I like almond milk.
– Any of your relatives live past 95? What do you think their secrets are?
– Do you have anxiety dreams in prep for a big event or work/school presentations, etc?

Happy Wednesday!
Guess what I did this weekend? A billion wedding tasks. Well not a billion, but so many that it felt like that many. We spent 5 hours on Sunday registering for gifts– so fun!! (and exhausting).

And I crossed a big task off the list– I bought my dress!! I found an amazing dress at a designer sample sale boutique, which is great because if I ordered it normally, even with a rush, it might not be here before May (oops….we haven’t had trouble schedule-wise with anything else)…plus I saved a little money. So I’m super excited now. I can’t wait to wear it!!

my mom and sis came with me
Of course, there are so many more things to cross off the list. Just when you think you’re on top of things….there’s all these other things to do. Fun stuff though.
And now for What I Ate Wednesday!

I photographed my Monday eats, which was just another normal workday. After a busy weekend, I was so excited to come home and veg on the couch for an hour before going to the gym….ahh, love mindless tv and my new People magazine subscription.
I got up right when my alarm went off at 6am and made a cup of DandyBlend (i’m really into this stuff again) with almond milk. Cup looks filthy! It was early am/half-asleep so I guess I spilled it a bit.

I brought breakfast to eat in the car. Around 7, I had a banana and hb egg while enjoying the commute sunrise.

Mondays are usually good days foodwise because I most likely have a full fridge and lots of options. On Monday, I brought a big salad with salmon plus a bag of carrots.

And that kept me full for quite a while……
I needed some fresh air in the afternoon so I took a walk to the little shopping center near my office and got a package of blueberries (of course) for a snack….and yes, I managed to eat all of them that afternoon (and get a tummy ache, blah).

Work, work, work
And then I zipped home with no traffic! I was starving and attacked the leftover chinese food container of steamed veggies (i asked for no sauce, no oils) and brown rice with a big glob of earth balance on top.

I finished the night with two of the most amazing cookies– TJs dark chocolate ginger cookies. I think they’re seasonal and I’m not sure if they have them anymore, but if they do, you MUST buy them. Delish.

Okay, the end.
I haven’t gotten my new camera yet so my photos are still hurting…
But tell me:
– Chinese food– yay or nay? (im generally a nay)
– How many wedding dresses did you try on before you found “the one”?
– Eat in the car or on the bus/train often or rarely?

First post of 2013! I am way behind on everything blog related (reading, posting, commenting, etc) but still wanted to jump back on the What I Ate Wednesday bandwagon so photographed most (ehhhh some) of my food yesterday.
But first off- NYE was really cozy and nice. Def mellow, but perfect

I didn’t think I had very much to drink, but I woke up with the worst headache and hungover feeling. Ugh.
Eggs and coffee were needed.

Plus a banana and like 3 more cups of coffee.
I couldn’t decide between staying glued to the couch or actually going outside, but luckily Jared decided for me and we went over to Crissy Field for a 4 mile walk along the beach to the bridge.

It was cool and crisp, but sunny out. I felt so much better! We walked…he’s still in an arm/shoulder sling…

Charlie played in the water (the nut…it was so cold out!)

And enjoyed the views

At the end of the walk, we grabbed our lunch from the car and snagged a picnic table to eat before we went home.
I just made an easy turkey and spinach “sandwich” on rice cakes and ate it with carrots and an apple

When we got home, all 3 of us napped and just hung out on the couch for almost three hours. It was lazy and nice (still wasn’t feeling 100%).

I snacked..and didn’t take photos…had another rice cracker with avocado on top and a lime bar (recipe later this week!)

I was productive in the evening after Jared left to watch the FSU game and did yoga, laundry, and checked the rest off my weekend to do list.
Dinner was roasted butternut squash, collard greens, and an unpictured egg (yes another egg!)

And pretty soon after that, I collapsed into bed, ready to start the work week!
I have to say this wasn’t the best New Year’s Day because I felt crummy, but I got to spend it with people I love which makes this year off to a good start. Couple that with no commute traffic this morning and I’m a happy camper!
-Good year so far?
-New year’s resolution?
