Still A Good Game

Well that was a nail biter!

20130203-223604.jpg
My voice is hoarse from cheering and screaming at the tv. I’m disappointed of course, but it was a really good game.

I’m a huge 49ers fan dating way back to the Montana days as a kid. They haven’t been to the SuperBowl for a while and the whole city has been so excited. I think this is the first Superbowl that I’ve been glued to the tv watching every play…normally I watch, hang out, eat, watch…repeat. This year, I pretty much just watched.

There were gooey slices of pizza…

20130203-225400.jpg
I ate a lot of carrots and hummus…and then drowning my loss sorrows with brownies after the game. We’re on west coast time, so the game was over by 8 and Super Bowl isn’t really dinner time. Was so strange for me to get used to a nighttime Super Bowl when I was on the east coast…here it’s an afternoon thing.

Anyway- the game and party was great. At least 35 people were crammed into a little apartment..and 5 TVs were set up.

20130203-225640.jpg
And despite the Niners’ loss, I’m so happy to have spent the day with friends…and so proud to be a San Franciscan…they were still great and exciting to watch this year. Thanks for the experience Niners! Until next year….

And now for two fun Super Bowl facts!

1) the average fan eats 1200 calories during the game. At first I thought that was a ton, but I guess if you’re with guys who are drinking a lot, the alcohol calories add up pretty fast.

2) A football player can burn 10,000 calories during the game. Yikes that’s a lot!

Do you think the 1200 calorie average is accurate? (Maybe not for you, but for other people at the party you were at? My party was pretty tame- the food was good and despite the pizza and desserts, the rest was healthy so I don’t think most people even came close to it.

-Where’d you watch? What was the best thing you ate? What percentage of the game did you actually watch?

Sounds like great fun! We don’t really have an equivalent here in the UK… Surprising really because we live an excuse to eat and drink lots, too!

That is one reason I would love living out west. The game was over here at 11:00 making my 4:00 am alarm clock dreadful. I am more of a home body because it is so late. But, with all of the drinking and not so good easy snacks that go along with the game (then throw in the doritos and beer commercials), I see people can easily hit the 1200 mark.

it WAS such a good game. I really thought they were gonna come back and win it! I can see people easily reaching the 1200 mark with lots of snacks/appetizers around. We didn’t have a party just had some cheese and crackers. Pretty pathetic hu?

If the pictures I’m seeing today of all the food at various Super Bowl parties is to be believed, I think 1200 calories is completely accurate!

We were also saying how nice it must be to watch the Super Bowl on the west coast and not have to worry about it ruining your Monday.

The game lost my attention after the power came back on. Those extra 34 minutes did me in. :)

SF put up a great fight!

That looks like a BLAST! We were cheering from the 49ers as well. And even though they lost it was an exciting game : )

I was SO bummed about the game! Too many times this year, SF has dug themselves into a deep hole in the beginning. They did that during the playoffs too! At least it was a good game at the end. The beginning was horrid!

I’m having a harder time believing the 10,000 calories a football player burns per game. WOW! I think I need to start playing football haha. As for consuming 1,200 watching the game, I can totally see that. The drinks probably make up a lot of that, plus you’re probably constantly snacking & not even noticing.

totally, and the game is so long that it can easily add up to that in 5 or so hours

I didn’t watch! But if the Packers were in the SB, I would’ve watched. I saw a commercial that Jello is coming to San Fran to hand out pudding cups as a consolation!

1200 calories per game….. Yep totally append here!! In Louisiana it is all about seafood, king cake, and alcohol. Which means most consume more than that!!

You know I was rooting for the Ravens, but I am sorry that your niners lost. It’s never fun when your team loses :[

..Watched the game on our couch. Watched 90% of it. & enjoyed bottle water during the game (it was 2:30 in the morning, what you expect Ha Ha)
