A Dog Gets His Toy
After a long morning and afternoon meeting with the florist and looking through wedding flower photos….

these are really pretty, but we chose something different
Meeting with the photographer…
And a full belly of Mexican food (thanks dad)
What I’m most thankful and lucky for today…
Was seeing the absolute joy on a shelter pup’s face when I handed him a dog toy

He was soo excited. I was about to go into the shelter to drop off a big box of toys, but a volunteer was walking him down the street (he lived at the shelter) and he looked at me longingly when he walked by, taking big sniffs of the toy basket.
I gave him a cute octopus toy and he was so thrilled! He squeaked it and squeaked it and then carried it in his mouth all down the street.
The rest of the drop-off experience today was both inspiring and heartbreaking. I cried for a sec after I left one of the shelters. They all looked SO lonely. All the pups were in cement cages with just a bed inside. Whenever anyone walked into the hall, they were so thrilled and hopeful that someone would play with them. Their tails wagged furiously and I got licks through the cages. “Choose me, PLEASE choose me!

Yes, I wanted to take all of them home with me.
I’ll write more later…and have two more shelters to visit tomorrow, but to everyone who donated, THANK YOU! As I saw once again today…toys really do make a difference for these pups.

I hope you had a wonderful Saturday!
-What was the best part of your day so far?
-Speaking of toys…what was your favorite toy as a kid? cabbage patch kid all the way! Haha

The day has just begun here, but the best thing yesterday was seeing one of my best friends after she’d been away for a month. My favourite toy was probably my Barbie house. It was huge!

February 3, 2013 at 8:07 pm (111 days ago)I just love this toy donation you’ve done. I used to volunteer at my local humane society for a little over a year, and it was hard. I loved the dogs, but it was sad when they didn’t find homes for a while. Something as simple as a new toy makes the world of difference!
