When you wake up stressed

When you wake up on Saturday morning feeling full of stress and anxiety (heyyyy….that’s so not supposed to happen on Saturday)

IMG_4693

The best thing, the VERY best thing to do

is eat a good breakfast…..

IMG_4692

put on clothes as fast as you can, drive across the bridge…..

and go for a hike

Trailhead at Rodeo Beach

Trailhead at Rodeo Beach

preferably along the water

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

somewhere with amazing views……..

where no matter where you look, you can’t see any houses or cars…

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

and even though you’re with friends, a fiancé, and a dog,

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

you still can stay lost in thought
OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA’cause before you know it…..

6 miles later….

you’ll feel soo much better.  And all that anxiety and stress will be left behind

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Instead, you’ll be grateful for all the good things— the bright blue skies in January…..the day off work….the puppy kisses….and so much more.

And  that way, you’ll set yourself up for a good weekend.

A really good weekend (oh and by the way, the 49ers won!!!  Yeah!!!)

Yeah, so that was my weekend– feeling totally stressed out for no particular reason– just leftover from a busy week and a big week ahead.  The hike helped, watched the 49er game, taught a class of cute/rowdy 6th graders on Sunday, went to the beach and lunch with my sis, counted dog toys from the event, and caught up on emails…and suddenly, the week is starting all over again…and I still have, among other things, an enormous pile of laundry that hasn’t been done.  Weekends are too short.  Letting go is a good thing.  It will get done eventually.  Life is good.

– Did you feel stressed or relaxed this weekend?
– What’s one thing you didn’t have time for this weekend?  (my big one was laundry)
– Can you hike in the winter where you live?
 – Did you do anything outdoors this weekend?

I 100% relate to how you felt this past weekend. Busy week, left work late Friday knowing that the next week was going to be even busier. It’s so hard not to feel stressed. I’m glad you tackled it and didn’t try to everything. My pile of ironing is still in the corner but I had walks in the sunshine and caught up with some of my favourite people in the whole world. THAT’S important.

    Hello Monday!

I love this!! I know that weekends are generally thought to be the time when you get to relax but honestly sometimes weekends just get too hectic. I always plan to catch up on all those little tasks (like laundry) on weekends to keep my weekdays calmer but I think just forgetting about everything and going on a hike sounds like just what is needed :)

I have been super stressed lately. It’s mostly a bunch of little things that have piled up. Usually a good sweat session helps me calm down though. Luckily I can be outdoors all winter in good old Florida :)

I can totally relate to what you’re describing . . . I just need to learn how to better let it go! But let me tell you, if I were able to take a hike in such a beautiful location, I think I’d see improvements. Gorgeous!

Sunshine and being outdoors is definitely the best cure for stress, or a bad mood, or whatever it may be. Things have been real gloomy on the east coast unfortunately, I hope the sun comes back soon!

I have to say going for a walk when I am stressed is what i need. I just can’t force myself to do strenuous exercise or anything too intense, walks and errands always calm me down

Those are some great looking views! I love the pup in the background of the one. And breakfast is definitely the key to starting your day off on the right foot!

That looks like a wonderful way to spend your day. Exercise is the best when you are stressed and a hike is one of my favorite ways to explore the outdoors : )

Congrats to your 49ers – People in WI are still upset about Saturday’s game :)
Weather here was crummy so no outside activities…and today it was about 9 degrees when I walked to work. It was so cold I had a hard time breathing–but at least the sun is out!

You are so right. That is definitely one of my favorite ways to de-stress. When your out their in the middle of all nature’s beauty, the problems of the world don’t seem quite so big.

I was going to say go back to bed, but your way of handling morning stress is so much better!! And you’re right; you have to let go of so e of the kittle things. It’ll all get done eventually.

Oh and I nominated you for the Liebster blog award today. This was the original reason for my little visit, but your post distracted me. Anyway, I’m going to hang my head in shame now, except we’re letting go of the little things.

Going for a walk or hike is perfect when I’m stressed. This sounds amazing and the photos are gorgeous. Glad your hike kicked the funk! It’s cold where I live so a run is all I do outside right now because that warms me up!

Wow definitely a perfect stress-buster by going on a 6 mile hike in such beautiful surroundings! It puts things into perspective I guess :)
Sorry that you’ve been stressed lately, I hate it when the week gets to you so by the weekend you have to find a way to destress and almost get over the week. Hope it gets better!
