24 Hour Fitness Coupon and a Wedding
Sooo, the weekend. Yes, it was a good one. Mellow and full at the same time.
Saturday night, we went to a wedding. Let me just say, going to a wedding in SF instead of having to fly across country is sooo ridiculously nice. Hopping in a cab and sleeping in my own bed afterward, yes please.
Me in the cab….
The cab guy thought I was nuts. Look at how little I managed to bring in my purse. I usually have way too much stuff and it’s bulky. You too? Or are you good about not bringing a lot? gJust the essentials- lip gloss, liner, ID, keys. Oh yeah and a granola bar for Jared who came directly from training…(yes, he showered)
Really pretty wedding, I won’t bore you with the details, but here’s a few shots:
Okay, now on to other things. Let’s talk about the gym.
Yesterday when I was on the treadmill (ummm, watching reality shows while I ran), I realized how thankful I am for my gym. Last year at this time, I was massively hating my gym. It was tiny, crowded, and the machines were out-of-date. There were no tvs, the stretching mats were dirty, and every time I was on a machine, the trainers would hound me to sign-up with them (I’m not opposed to them offering their services, it was just overkill). Going to the gym wasn’t relaxing anymore. The only good part was that it was close to my apt and my friend belonged too, so we would occasionally go to yoga classes together.
BUT, in February, another gym was offering a special and so I bit the bullet, quit my gym, and I signed up. HOLY COW, it makes such a difference to belong to a gym you love. Now I can’t wait to be there, have so many class and machine options, a pool, sauna, etc…..it is so nice and my exercise routine has really benefitted from it.
Even if you love your gym to pieces, it’s always really fun to explore a new one. Whenever gyms have free passes, I always like to go– changing routines is fun and I figure, why the heck not?! Anything to beat gym boredom factors.
24-Hour Fitness (have you been? Their gyms are sooo nice around here!) is offering a free pass, no strings attached. You can sign up through here.
Not meaning to sound too much like an ad
, but thought I’d offer it to you guys in case you were interested.
– What’s your favorite part about your gym?
– Have to you been to more weddings far away or around your area lately?
– How many weddings did you go to this year? I had 9 in the past 13 months- yikes!

October 16, 2012 at 5:51 am (216 days ago)You look absolutely beautiful at that wedding! I also love the skyline imprinted on the bottom layer of the cake. I’ve never seen that done before.
It’s funny because I get super attached to the various gyms I’ve belonged to, and I get inordinately sad when I have to move. I loved my college gym and I lived next door, so I was incredibly sad to leave it. My gym here in Chicago is fine now, but it’s a little bit of a “meat market” which gets real old, real quick. Some gyms don’t have that feel at all, but mine does now. Oh well. I only pay $30 a month and it includes all fitness classes, so no complaints here!

October 16, 2012 at 8:41 am (216 days ago)wow, $30 is a great deal! my old gym was a meat market too…i hated it because flirting is the absolute last thing I want to do when I’m working out!

October 16, 2012 at 6:50 am (216 days ago)What a good looking couple you two make! I’ve only been to one wedding this year, but it was a pretty big one. My baby sister got married!
Currently, I’m strictly working out at home. My town is just too small, and the only available gym is simply not worth the money.

October 16, 2012 at 6:59 am (216 days ago)gosh that wedding looks beautiful! glad you had a good time and not having to travel far for it is such a plus! love it! i now have a gym in my building which is good because I can’t afford my own gym membership. I am not a big gym person but I can see how a gym can really affect motivation

October 16, 2012 at 8:40 am (216 days ago)so nice when buildings have their own gyms— especially on days when it’s raining!

October 16, 2012 at 9:38 am (216 days ago)9 weddings!?!? WOWZA! I think I have been to maybe 4 in my entire life?! HAH I LOVE weddings though. They make me so happy. I actually don’t carry a purse at all..I don’t have that woman gene haha. I LOVE my gym, the classes are what sold me. I don’t use the equipment that much because I have my own treadmill, and weights aren’t really my thing. So I go to the classes..yoga, spin class, boot camps..YAY!

October 16, 2012 at 11:07 am (216 days ago)You looked beautiful. Glad your man was able to attend it with you too! I am not in love with my gym but it could be a lot worse. I have actually only been to 2 weddings (my sister’s last year and my cousin’s this summer) and they were both in NY (I’ve been in NJ for just over a year but my family and friends are all back in NY). Sounds like a nice weekend and glad you made the switch!

October 16, 2012 at 12:51 pm (216 days ago)Wow that cake is amazing! I loe weddings. I’ve been to four this year, one was an Indian wedding which I’ve never been to before and was beautiful – so many colours! And one was my own wedding hehe. Liking where you work out is definitely important, especially when you’re not in the mood!

October 16, 2012 at 1:50 pm (216 days ago)I went to an Indian wedding a few years ago and it was so much fun! There were 400 people there and I loved all the traditions

October 16, 2012 at 1:36 pm (216 days ago)Whoa!! What a cake!!! I LOVE my gym right now. I tell my husband every few days that it’s teh best gym we’ve ever gone to. It’s small, friendly, owned by two guys who work there, and has really nice equipment!! The last wedding I went to was my own in 2011! I think I was the last of my friends to get married!

October 16, 2012 at 1:49 pm (216 days ago)So neat that you know the owners of your gym!! I’ve only gone to the big corporate type gyms and think if the owners were actually there, the gym would be even better

October 16, 2012 at 7:28 pm (216 days ago)I quit my gym in the fall because I just didn’t like it. It was big but super inpersonal, crowded, and I hated the classes (man I miss spin). I have heard that another awesome brand new gym is opening up in town. I can’t wait…it makes such a difference!

October 17, 2012 at 4:13 am (215 days ago)You guys look great.
I was traveling yesterday and used the hotel gym–the real hotel gym was under construction so there was a hotel suite that had been stripped of furniture and there were 2 ellipticals and 2 treadmills. At 5AM all 4 machines were taken so I had to wait – not too happy about that so early. But after about 10 minutes a machine freed up.

October 17, 2012 at 8:55 am (215 days ago)ugh, that’s awful! at least you didn’t have to wait long, but still, that sounds like one of the worst types of hotel “gyms”
