Sunday in Food

Hey.  How was your weekend?  I’m not ready for it to be over. I worked until late on Friday night and then had a work event all afternoon Sunday, so this weekend was wayyyyy too short.

Today was a good day though.  I slept until 8 this morning.  That’s huge for me, I’m usually up by 6:30.

Breakfast was simple.  A scrambled egg and the last of my farmer’s market nectarines.  I bought at least 8 nectarines last Saturday and have been working my way through them, but I didn’t go to the farmer’s market yesterday to stock up on more so am officially out of all my favorite f.m. goodies.  I think I forsee a Whole Foods trip later this week.

After breakfast, we left to test drive cars (SUVs) today for the second time (we also went in late August).  It’s actually Jared’s new SUV, but I still get to weigh in and test drive, etc.  We went to three car lots today.  It’s such a tough choice- I liked all of them!

I ate lunch in the car inbetween lot 1 and 2.  It was a salad (leftover from the party I was at Saturday night) and a rice cracker “sandwich” with pb&j. It looked gross in my pic, so not posting it here.

After the last test drive (on a car that only had 2 miles of gas until completely empty….I guess the car people don’t like to put gas in their cars?), we stopped at Starbucks to make a pros and cons list.  Big water and an iced tea.

Narrowed it down, but I think we’ll sleep on it before a final decision.

I had a work event around 2pm. It was a big fashion show fundraiser at a nice country club and went really well, despist a few stressful work moments.

While I worked, Jared went on a 16 mile run and when he picked me up at 7pm, he was starving…So starving that he insisted he had food in his stomach within 15 minutes or he was going to pass out.  He was driving, so passing out wouldn’t be good. Luckily, there’s a good gourmet burger spot nearby and we stopped there for dinner.

Yum.

And a few sips of his oreo milkshake, of course.

Home an hour later (commute) and just vegging on the couch for another hour before I pass out.  I got in a great swim on Saturday and a few good dog walks, but didn’t manage any exercise on Friday or Sunday and I’m feeling lethargic.  It’s a new week though!  Hoping for a Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday exercise streak (trying to be realistic and Wed and Fri are way too busy), even if some days are light.  We’ll see how I do….

I’m curious about what cars you test drove! We will be in the market for a new SUV soon, so we’ve started talking about what makes and models we’d like to consider.

We narrowed it down to the Suburu Outback, Hyundai Santa Fe and Ford Escape. Both the 2013 Santa Fe and Escape are all re-done this year and really nice. We’re looking for something that’s not too pricey and will work for all Jared’s athletic stuff as well as life stuff (road trips, if we have kids in the next few years, etc). Such a tough choice! I think we’re going to go with the Hyundai (surprisingly, because we both didn’t expect to like it)- the inside is really nice, it has all the new technology plus the most room, and is the best value. The Outback’s a close second though… What are you guys looking at?

This weekend was too busy for me also and now it’s over. It goes by so fast. Good luck with the new vehicle.

We had to buy a new truck for the hubster at the start of the summer, thankfully we found a really good deal. We found one for sale by owner, mint condition, super low miles, and saved a ton of money!

I didn’t do any exercising this weekend, well except some dancing and shopping. I need to start back on Sundays so I can have good energy levels for the start of the work week :)

My car is 12 years old and I am dreading having to buy another one. Fingers crossed, this car can get me through the BOY’s last few years of law school!
