Labor Day Eats: WIAW #34

Whoa, Wednesday already.  The weekend’s going to be here again before we know it.

I love September’s WIAW theme- Good Habits.  My bday’s in September too (2 weeks!) and I still always think of back-to-school season (even though I’m not going back to school) as the start of the new year, so it’s great timing to get those good habits in order.  I think for me, good habits mean– always having healthy food around (not running out…as I often do), planning healthy snacks (so I don’t get too hungry), eating a balanced breakfast (which doesn’t leave me starved an hour later…or is junky so I start the day off wrong), and staying away from sweets.

I’ll have to focus on those more next week, but here are my eats from Monday, Labor Day.

I woke up around 7:30am….yes, that’s sleeping late for me.

We didn’t have any milk (or really any groceries) so pretty much as soon as I woke up, I went across the street to grab a cup of coffee.

Ahhh. Much needed.

Here’s a no-make-up, just-woke-up phto of me so happy with my coffee.

Breakfast time was not much later (growling tummy, probably from our early dinner on Sunday)–  I made toast (ezekiel) with almond butter and jelly and topped with farmer’s market blueberries.  Yum.

After breakfast, I went for a short, but glorious run.

And then walked downtown for some shopping action. Great sales!  Do you like Anthropologie too?

Around 12:30, Jared picked me up and we met friends at The Ramp, one of SF’s outdoor restaurants right on the water. It was sunny (low 70s is HOT for SF!) and perfect to sit outside.

We got drinks while waiting for a table. I wasn’t feeling like alcohol so just got water, but here’s someone else’s beer in the foreground.

I ordered a shrimp louis. It was good.

After lunch, I went to Trader Joe’s finally to spend a billion dollars and stock up on groceries for the week.  I was starving by the time I left and ate a banana in the car, along with two (unpictured) rice cakes.

The rest of the afternoon was errands, etc and I made a bbq pulled pork mac and cheese for Jared to take for lunch this week (nice girlfriend this week), and had to taste a few bites.

Maybe that was the culprit, but by the time dinnertime came, I wasn’t very hungry.  I ate anyways- a sweet potato (from the farmer’s market), chicken, and a glass of wine. I opened the bottle on Wednesday night and so I just had to finish it tonight.

Nice, relaxing day off.  Now it’s back to work! Yesterday, I was the only one in the office- everyone else was out on vacation- craziness. It was a quiet, but productive day.  Hope your week back to school/work/life is going well!

– What’s your favorite clothing store?
– Do you like shrimp/fish?
– How far away is your nearest Starbucks? Mine’s literally across the street.
– Any Sept healthy habits to share?

My goal for september is to continue my clean eating journey. I splurged a bit with a handful of yogurt covered pretzels but other than that I did pretty well :)

    Happy WIAW!

My September healthy habit is getting up 30 minutes earlier to work out every day. So far so good! So jealous of you shopping in Trader Joes. We have nothing like that near me. When I was in New York earlier this year we tried to go in a store but the queue went round the whole shop right to the front door! Fail! J

LOVE Anthropologie!!!!! Too bad a lot of the stuff there is $$$, but I sometimes find things in the sale section. And the home items are adorable! My nearest Starbucks is half a mile away. I’m about to switch from my summer staple of Iced Green Tea to a fall pumpkin latte :-)
