Date Night Fusion

Last night was a mid-week date night. Work’s been busy and a night out was just what I needed.

A new Thai Fusion spot opened down the street and it’s been calling my name every time I walk by.

What’s your take on the whole fusion trend these days? Seems like every restaurant is calling itself “fusion.” I like the idea of blending two cuisines, but sometimes I feel like they just call themselves that to attract foodies.

Blackwood’s menu was pretty typical Thai…not sure where the fusion came in (except on their brunch menu which had Pad Thai Eggs Benedict…).  All the veggies and meats, however, are organic…double yum

We ordered Pad Thai…and another peanut noodle dish that doesn’t look very appetizing in the photo so I won’t post it.

And the best part? Leftovers for tonight’s dinner!

But back to fusion…

Here are some favorites and random ideas….

Tacos with BBQ sauce
Pizza bagel (that count?)
Tempura rice noodle rolls
Tandoori pizza

But in general, I’m perfectly fine leaving my cuisines to eat by themselves…no need to fuse…..

-Are there a lot of fusion places near you too?

-If you were to “fuse” any two foods, what would they be? (I think the cookie brownies from a couple weeks ago count!)

-Restaurant preference?- Thai, Chinese, or Japanese?

I totally agree, I think “fusion” is becoming totally overused! that place looks really good though! I think I might get pad thai for lunch now. Hmmm…
mabye Greek Italian? That might be some interesting combos….
I think I would have to pick Thai…so many yummy things!!

I love it when I am just as excited for leftovers as I was when the food was being served at the restaurant! :)

I can’t say I have ever been to a fusion restaurant, hmmm??? We do not have one here where I live, I have been to places that serve sushi and steak/seafood. They only do that on certain nights, fusion is not in the name. Oh well!

I have to say my fav fusion is pizzas. Like cheeseburger pizza, bbq chicken pizza, etc.

We have a TON of fusion in Atlanta. My favorite idea is the Korean Taco place. :)

BBQ tacos sound incredible! We don’t really fusion very often, but I think mac n cheese pizza sounds great with some sea salt caramel brownies for dessert!

Ooh those combos sound great! I’m surprised Mac and Cheese pizza hasn’t been on the menu anywhere yet!

BBQ tacos sound delicious! I love fusing weird things…I think I already told you about the cottage cheese and ketchup. Another really good one is hummus and tuna fish..mmmm. I had thai for the first time last week and really enjoyed it, but I think I still prefer Japanese. I’m not a fan of Chinese

I haven’t had Thai in ages–in Chicago I lived behind a Thai restaurant and had the luxury of walking into the kitchen to place my order.
    Enjoy the leftovers!

I love thai food! I never really know what the fusion means anyway haha. There is a taco truck that is a mexican-asian fusion… but it really just seems like it’s mexican ;)

My sig other is an amazing cook and his two favorite things to make are paella and pizza (and BBQ, but I said two). He said he wanted to open a paella/pizza place. Not so much fusion but random!
I’m a spin instructor, so we talked about opening a spinning studio with an attached pizza place. Work out for pizza! :)

Oh my gosh I could never choose. I think Chinese is my least favorite of the 3 – but I really love all of them.
