BBQ in 50 degree Weather

Does this look like summer to you? Sweatshirts, jackets, and overcast skies?

Nope. Summer in San Francisco is in full swing, it’s barely in the 50s here. I was planning to post photos from our fab outdoor BBQ…but it was so cold, we pretty much cooked the burgers and brought it inside.

Rewind to earlier Sunday….

Day started with my favorite breakfast

I met my sister for a walk, which was great because it tired the dog out and he pretty much didn’t move for three full hours

I made my quinoa salad to bring to the BBQ, which came out really good. I put in a ton of veggies

There were some vegan people at the BBQ, so they especially appreciated it

And went to the music festival (crowded, good music, but we ended up not staying long) and then started barbecuing. There was a good spread, even though it was sorta a mess on the table. Everyone was too cold to do anything but huddle around the table together. Seriously San Francisco, is the constant cold weather really necessary?

We came inside and the party lasted until almost 10pm in the apartment. So cold weather prob fixed.

And the Cookie Brownies? Omg, they were a hit. At least ten people wanted the “recipe” and they were gobbled up quickly.

Next time we’re adding swirls of peanut butter and chocolate chips too. I would highly recommend them for an easy party dessert (see yesterday’s post for more details)

And I won’t get into detail, but this morning I ended up having to walk all over the neighborhood in my pj pants. They are not the kind that can pass for normal sweats. Random and silly.  Wonder what this kind of random start this means for the week ahead :)

Regardless of the foggy skies and cold temps, hanging out with friends is always a win.

-How was your weekend?

-Do you prefer hot or cold weather? hot weather for me :-)

Yeah, we have “June Gloom” that stretches all the way through August. It’s no fun. Sept, Oct, and Nov are our nicest, warmest months (Indian Summer). This summer (fingers crossed) has been sunnier than normal….which is why a weekend of “normal” fog was extra sad…been getting used to wearing shorts and tshirts!

I am in your land for the next four days, I honestly can’t believe this weather after coming from DC’s heat wave.

I bet the no-humidity is a really nice change! Are you at the redwood city build office? that’s right near my work :-)

I go back and forth between loving the hot weather (when Santa Cruz actually warms up) and cold weather. Right now it’s pretty foggy and cold here so I’m enjoying being bundled up in my warm coat, but I know eventually I’ll be over the cold weather and want it to be hot again lol.

Agreed! And since the weather’s so unexpected here, it’s so hard to plan what to do (i.e. plan a bbq in the cold or plan something indoors when it ends up being hot out)

Love hot days, but sometimes I could go for some cooler weather. I’m kinda excited to see how the winters are here in Kuwait. I do know that this heat here is outrageous, and I’m wishing for some sort of cooler break, or even a trip of rain (don’t see that happening anytimeeee soon though :( ).

What a fun day in pictures. Those brownies look amazing!!! I seriously would’ve eaten 938752908 of them if possible!!!

I love hot days but also love cold, fresh winter days. Sounds like your summer is like the summer here in England. It is cold and very wet. We are on constant flood warnings! On the other hand bbq’s are always fun and the brownie looks delish.

I was in England one summer and the temps felt very similar– no floods though! I didn’t realize it was raining so much there now!

I can’t believe how chilly the weather could be. It is crazy hot for BBQ’s here! All the food looks amazing though! Glad you enjoyed!
