Simple Saturday
Ahhh, all I wanted all week was a relaxing unscheduled weekend and I am so happy it’s here. I tried to make as few plans as possible (aside from a big BBQ we’re hosting Sunday) and its been a simple and awesome Saturday.
Summer fruit and green tea
Fun, long walk to the park…one Charlie and I have never gone to, so it was fun to explore
Recognize those houses from Full House? Used to love that show
From the park, the fog looked like it was going to roll in
But so far, it’s managed to stay away and it’s been super sunny all day.
Charlie played in the dog area. Watching dogs play together is one of my happy things, they always look so incredibly excited
Read four magazines, ran errands, etc…
And baked! I made Cookie (basically brownie batter poured over cookie dough). I’ve been seeing them around the blog world recently and thought they’d be perfect to try for tomorrow’s BBQ. How could that combo be anything but good?!
They’re not the least bit healthy and since this is “Simple Saturday,” I cheated, went the easy route and just used a mix. I have a great brownie recipe, but wasn’t into taking the time today. Still, even baking with a mix is relaxing and counts as my happy/grateful thing today too.
Haven’t tried them yet because I’m saving them for the BBQ, but will let you know. I’m making a quinoa salad too….to make up for the indulgent dessert
And in other foodie news– i walked through a street festival and this was the menu at one of the booths:
Fried kool aid??? I can’t figure out what that would even look like??? Disgusting…but weirdly tempted to order it just to find out!
How’s your Saturday?
How often do you take a “day off” and don’t make plans on purpose?
Fried kool aid? What do you think it is??

July 8, 2012 at 5:22 am (347 days ago)Aw your dog is so cute! We were visiting and just left the Bay Area and it’s so humid back East now. My dog would be so much happier in CA! Fried Kool-Aid sounds odd. I can’t even begin to guess…

July 8, 2012 at 12:44 pm (346 days ago)I was thinking how tough all the east coast heat must be on dogs…my dog looks like he’s overheated when it’s only 75 out, so can’t imagine 25 degrees hotter!

July 8, 2012 at 6:49 am (347 days ago)In WI there are all sorts of fried foods “featured” at the State Fair. Eww.
I was looking ahead to next weekend when we have no plans and I panicked a bit—thinking I was missing something on my calendar but I’m not. Hooray!

July 8, 2012 at 12:43 pm (346 days ago)I think they’ll fry practically anything at fairs…and people will eat it!

July 8, 2012 at 6:57 am (347 days ago)haha I’m from the deep south–I can tell you EXACTLY what fried kool aid is….it’s not liquid form…it basically looks like a bright red deep fried doughnut hole. it’s just flour and kool-aid! now, as for taste I can’t help you bc I’ve only seen my friends eat them…if I get something fried at the fair I usually just stick to funnel cake

–well now that i read the comment above mine, i finally know what fried kool-aid is.. and it doesn’t sound too appealing whatsoever, haha!
My Saturday was very low-key. Hubby works every saturday, so my day usually consists of working out & cleaning. Sundays are his only days off, so that’s when we actually go out on the weekends
