Hungry! WIAW #18
Hey! This week, I have been extra hungry…..which I guess is a good thing, because I’ve been surrounded by extra good food (mostly eaten out, my fridge is pretty empty lately because I never seem to be able to fit in a grocery store run- ugh). When I don’t have good food in the house, I think I tend to be hungrier in general because my meals are less balanced…but that’s just a guess– it could be because I’m just busier and running around more…
Anyway- THANKS TO JENN, as always! Time for What I Ate Wednesday!
So, here were my day-of-eats…..
Breakfast: Woke up hungry despite a big-ish dinner. I always get excited for my green smoothies. Happily sipped this one with a big cup of coffee with soy milk.
Lunch: After morning meetings, I was starving for lunch, but not in the mood AT ALL for what I brought. So instead, I stopped at the market on my way back to the office and picked out a more snack-y lunch. It was sort of random, but what I felt like– Peanut Butter (from the grinder at the market), a Banana, and mini Soy Rice Crackers.
I know, I know NO VEGGIES in there. Some days are like that
Snack: That filled me up, but not enough to miss a field trip to the ice cream shop! It was a sunny day, so loved an afternoon walk break. The ice cream store is so cute and makes their own ice cream. They even have vegan options!!
I went with the Vegan Chocolate IceCream. It was soy-based and had a ton of vegan chocolate chips in it. Hit the spot!!
Dinner: I guess all that sugar didn’t hold me over well enough though, because I was hungry again once dinner rolled around (like ready-to-chew-my-arm-off hungry).
Ate at a mediterranean place before an appointment. I got the Salmon shish-kabob that came with rice and salad. It was delish and finally a balanced meal!
And yes, I was finally stuffed after this!
Question for YOU-
– Ice Cream– sugar cone, plain cone, or cup?
– Do you tend to eat the same things for breakfast and lunch of change it up? (I usually eat the same breakfast and variations of the same lunch….except for this day!)
– Do you ever do the grocery store pb grinder? Do you think it tastes better/worse/same than other options (including making it yourself)?

May 1, 2012 at 10:36 pm (382 days ago)Oh wow, the salmon shish-kabob looks amazing. I pretty much eat the same thing for breakfast, lunch is usually leftover dinner in a salad form and dinner always changes. I actually don’t eat ice cream so I’m no help with that question! I love your lunch though – my idea of a great lunch!

May 1, 2012 at 11:51 pm (382 days ago)Ice cream cup (holds more ice cream and toppings!)
Everyday I eat totally different things, with the exception of my fruit and dark chocolate night time snack.
Never heard or seen of a PB grinder! (Oh and I really would love to try that soy choc chip ice cream!!!!)

May 2, 2012 at 3:59 am (382 days ago)That chocolate ice-cream looks delicious! That’s awesome that they offer vegan options. I’m a cup girl with a sugar cone on the side! I love sugar cones but don’t like ice-cream melting on my hand!
Rebecca
May 2, 2012 at 11:05 am (381 days ago)This scoop was extra melty!

May 2, 2012 at 10:53 am (381 days ago)So good! And it’s nice to be able to just take how much you want (sometimes I don’t need a whole jar….a couple servings will do)

May 2, 2012 at 5:50 am (382 days ago)I always eat the same things during the week but try to switch it up on the weekends! That ice cream sounds amazing!
Rebecca

May 2, 2012 at 6:29 am (382 days ago)I tend to get in pretty bad food ruts until I get so sick of it! Never good. I love Soy Crisps, they are one of my fav snacks.
Rebecca
May 2, 2012 at 10:50 am (381 days ago)Yeah, I should buy soy crisps more often- they’re really yummy!

May 2, 2012 at 6:51 am (382 days ago)I like snacky meals – in my dream world I’d get a bento box style meal at least once a day. I’m not too consistent in my meals. My beverages are the same each day (green jasmine tea, green juice, kombucha and iced tea), but my meals change by the day.
Rebecca
May 2, 2012 at 10:49 am (381 days ago)So jealous you have a kombucha everyday!! I need to learn how to make my own

May 2, 2012 at 7:23 am (382 days ago)I am all about that ice cream cone – yum! I am a sugar cone girl but sometimes reach for plain. And I love the pb grinder at WF! I use it all the time.
Rebecca
May 2, 2012 at 10:49 am (381 days ago)I love the grinder too!

May 2, 2012 at 7:23 am (382 days ago)I usually go for cup, unless the cone is dipped in chocolate! And for breakfast I usually have the same thing unfortunately! It’s usually toast with almond butter and bananas, or oatmeal and almond butter :s I def need some variety!!
Rebecca
May 2, 2012 at 10:49 am (381 days ago)Sounds like great breakfast choices– for me, it’s hard to change it up when i like my “usual” so much!

May 2, 2012 at 9:39 am (381 days ago)“I was starving for lunch, but not in the mood AT ALL for what I brought…” OMG I hate that! It is so tough trying to pack lunch some days because I’m never sure what I’ll feel like come lunchtime. I wish I could just strap on a fridge sometimes
As for the ice cream, sugar cone all the way! Yours looks delish!
Rebecca
May 2, 2012 at 10:47 am (381 days ago)Totally agree! It happens to me pretty often too…esp when I pack my lunch when I’m full from breakfast, I never end up bringing enough food for the afternoon

May 2, 2012 at 11:27 am (381 days ago)I really want some ice cream now! All your eats look amazing. You reminded me to have a green smoothie for breakfast tomorrow, or a variation thereof! I will usually have soemthing revolving around oats for breakfast and change things up quite a bit for lunch and dinner to keep it fun. But breakfast is my favorite meal so I put lots of effort into making it! Love your blog
Rebecca
May 2, 2012 at 12:13 pm (381 days ago)Now that the weather’s warmer, I’m so happy it’s ice cream season again!

May 2, 2012 at 11:38 am (381 days ago)I’m an ice cream in a cup kind of girl. Every now and then I’ll eat it in a plain cone but only if it’s soft serve. And my favorite PB is Adam’s chunky. I’ve tried the grinder but it doesn’t feel as moist to me. I have made my own almond butter though and that was delicious.
Rebecca
May 2, 2012 at 12:13 pm (381 days ago)I agree that the grinder isn’t as moist. I like Adams– I usually buy that or Trader Joe’s

May 2, 2012 at 12:52 pm (381 days ago)I have many days that look like yours, more of snack type meals. I have to go with ice cream in a cup, I am not a cone person. I do not have a grocery store near me with a nut grinder, I think I would love to try that!!

May 2, 2012 at 5:17 pm (381 days ago)Vegan chocolate ice cream? No way! I wish I could find that here.
Ice cream? In a cup.
Breakfast? Always a smoothie either chocolate Shakeology or Green Monster. Except on race days, then, it’s a whole wheat bagel with almond butter.
Grinder? I’ve never tried it. Maybe I’ll try the one at Whole Foods this weekend just for fun and to see the difference.
