When you need to clear your head…
Sometimes life isn’t all sunshine and poppies…
Though Spring flowers are definitely in bloom these days….
But sometimes, there are more complicated things to think about and figure out….
I’m a terrible decision maker. I list every possible pro and con. I am never sure whether to go with my head or my heart. And I let all the options get so complicated, it becomes difficult to see what I really want.
And when that happens, the very best thing for me is to take a walk. No music, no distractions, just a long walk with my thoughts. It clears my head and helps me listen to my gut.
And it helps when there’s a beautiful scenery and sunset to walk towards….
And you can just sit on the beach and watch the waves.
The beach was especially nice last night.
And of course, my second “relax and clear my thoughts” go-to is a glass of wine. That is usually best enjoyed with friends, of course. And enjoyed with friends while sitting on the beach is not half bad either.
How about you? What do you do when you need to clear your head or have decisions to make?
Do you usually listen to your head or your heart?

April 26, 2012 at 7:12 am (392 days ago)Ah your pictures make me miss living in SF so much!
I fought for years to listen to my head, then I started following my heart. Right now, for survival(financial) reasons, I am again listening to my head. It’s always a battle between the two. It’s almost like the battle between conformity and creativity, childhood and responsibility.
Nature helps me make the choice…getting out onto the trails. Getting my hands dirty, knees scraped…trying to find a little peace and solitude in such an insanely busy area (NJ). Most times it works.
Good luck in your decision making process <3

April 26, 2012 at 10:26 am (391 days ago)I hit the gym and do the toughest workout I can muster up. I get so lost in my thoughts sometimes and a killer workout is the only way that I can get my mind 100% somewhere else.
Good luck with your decision making! Whatever choice you make will be right

April 26, 2012 at 11:25 am (391 days ago)I struggle with big decisions and always do a pros/cons list. In the end, going with my heart has always proven to be the best choice. For me, if it doesn’t feel right, it’s probably not. Good luck with whatever choice you make.

April 26, 2012 at 7:07 pm (391 days ago)A run cures everything, clears my head, and puts everything into new perspective! A walk is the second best thing!!! Running or walking in nature (on a trail or by some water) is even better, but just hitting the pavement, or even a walk in a busy city is wonderfully relaxing, mind clearing for me. I am definitely not a ‘let’s meditate, take a bath, do yoga, or breath deep’ kind of person, but sitting on the top of a mountain, or by the ocean, looking at some beautiful view puts peace into my mind. (One the less healthy note, some chocolate can help too…)

April 26, 2012 at 7:33 pm (391 days ago)I am the same way. I am a horrible decision maker and just need time to clear my head. I tend to take a 20 minute nap when possible. It helps me to forget about what it is I am unsure about.

April 27, 2012 at 4:24 am (391 days ago)Beautiful photos of the beach!
Walking is my go-to. I leash the dogs and head out to a beautiful path along the lake.
