Weekend in Florida
Ready for my quick recap of the weekend? It was a whirlwind, jam packed 72 hours and totally worth the exhaustion that followed.
Florida was a perfect 85 degrees and despite running all over the state to see friends, family, and go to a wedding, there was enough pool and beach time to feel like a vacation.
But before I get to that, I thought I’d get the bad part out of the way. My little point and shoot, which is only about a year old, died. I was snapping pics at the beach and a piece of sand must have gotten into the lens, because it has a permanent lens error. So bummed. I can’t afford a new one right now.
Truthfully, this is my FOURTH cannon elf. And the exact same grain of sand thing has happened to all four of them. You’d think I would have learned, but nope, I liked the way the camera worked so kept buying the same one, swearing I wouldn’t let it happen again. Finally learned my lesson.
Anyways, so all the FL photos were taken with my phone and the color and quality aren’t great, so bear with me.
The weekend:
After a Thursday night Red Eye and my 7am Friday DD (yum!), went straight to the beach. It was perfectly 85 degrees and after so much SF rain, it was just what I needed.
Amazing how much better the sun can make you feel!
Then some family time, dinner outside, and then drove to Miami to meet a bunch of friends.
We got a table at Chalk, this new lounge that also has ping pong and pool tables. It’s great! I wish they’d open something like it in SF.
Let me say though…..ping pong skills quickly diminish after a few cocktails!
It was a late night that ended with pizza.
We slept at a friend’s place in Miami Beach. It’s on the Ventian Islands neighborhood and super nice. When we finally woke up, Jared went for a long morning run, but I went straight to the pool.
The pool is right on the water and the weather was perfect. I watched the yachts go by while reading a book and eating breakfast- a Nature Valley granola bar (forgot how good these are!).
Umm, I want to be her roommate and live here! I would spend every day sitting by the pool.
Around 1:00 we went over to the Miami Beach Standard Hotel for lunch. Anyone been here? Love it!
Check out their pool
They had a GREAT very healthy, vegan menu. Check out the kale salad and raw “living lasagna”

I got a salad with grilled tofu– it was not what I was expecting and really wasn’t that good at all (esp for the price). Oh well, happens.

We got into the car about 5 minutes before it started DOWNPOURING. It wasn’t one of those quick 10 minute storms either– this one lasted the entire time we were driving. We were going to go back to Palm Beach to change before going to the wedding, but it was raining SOO hard that the drive took forever and we ended up having to literally change our clothes in the car and going straight to Jupiter for the wedding. We made it with only 1 minute to spare. Whew.
The wedding ceremony was at the lighthouse. Really pretty spot.

Ugh, sorry for the quality of these– it’s my phone camera. & no good people photos from the wedding either.
The ceremony was at a nearby resort.
Nice times at the wedding. We didn’t know anyone else, so it was nice to meet new people.
Sunday- breakfast cooked by grandma (yum, but no pic).
Time at the pool.
Afternoon in Delray.

How CUTE (funny) IS THIS?
Early dinner.
And then off to the airport for a late flight home. Flew Virgin so I watched several episodes of Khloe & Lamar before sleeping for a few hours. Love their cable tv options and that you can order drinks right from your seat computer menu! Got back home at 1am finally and then pretty much fell right asleep. And that’s it- just a quick recap.
Sometimes, it’s just sooo nice to go away– change of scenery, sunshine, and new things. And now it’s the workweek again and back to normal life….sigh.
–Do you have any trips planned?
– When’s the last time you had a day by the pool/beach?
